One Kneeland Street is where it all began – at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where we both experienced the joy of treating and building bonds with patients for the first time. After spending time working in separate practices and clinics over the years, we dreamt of building a practice of our own, where together, we can continue taking great care of people.

Though we loved living in Boston, we knew it was time to move closer to family. We made Albuquerque our new base, (an easy road trip to both our parents’ homes). We quickly grew to love this city, as we discovered its magnificent sunsets, balloon-filled skies, spicy green chilies, and warm genuine people. When we’re not obsessing over dentistry, you can find us with our pup Wally, playing fetch at the park, browsing the aisles at any given Home Goods, making Jasmine tea for friends and family, or eating the insanely delicious Wonton Soup at Thai Kitchen.

We feel fortunate to have found a wonderful space to convert into our dream dental practice, which we have outfitted with the highest quality equipment and instruments. We discovered that we’re totally unable to compromise when it comes to the building, set-up, x-ray machines, types of filling materials, everything, really.

We built Kneeland Dental Care to be a place where we can practice the kind of dentistry that we truly believe in: where every detail matters, and where your comfort and care always come first. It has been built with care, attention, and love, and we hope you feel that when you experience it for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you here at the clinic soon.

Dr. Dorothy Nguyen & Dr. Quan Tran

Meet Dr. Dorothy Nguyen

My path to dentistry was a winding one. I studied East Asian Languages and Literature at Smith College and completed a Master’s Degree in East Asian Studies at Yale before finding my calling in dentistry. After training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, I practiced at a community health clinic in Boston.

Many people fear or have anxiety about going to see their dentist. Listening, explaining, making people feel comfortable, giving them something to smile about, and being a warm host—these are all things that I love doing during my process of treating patients. To hear from an anxious patient that they felt comfortable and were happy with my treatment is what makes my work so incredibly rewarding.

I love hosting friends and family, making and sharing good food, snacks, and tea, and making people feel at home. I also love going on adventures with Quan, whether it’s traveling to a new place, trying a new restaurant, or just going for a walk with our pup, Wally.

Meet Dr. Quan Tran

After finishing a degree in Pharmacology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, I explored architecture and computer science before discovering my love for dentistry. I completed my Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Tufts University. For the past 15 years, it has been my privilege to treat patients in diverse practices across the U.S., including offices in Massachusetts, Connecticut, California, Texas, as well as a Community Health Clinic in Hatch, New Mexico. I’ve also had the wonderful experience of being one of the dentists for the Los Angeles Clippers.

I love dentistry because it is where art meets health science, a place to strive for maximum function and aesthetics. It is important to me to deliver both quality and transparency in my work, because I believe that every patient deserves good treatment and a clear understanding of their treatment options.

I really enjoy spending time with Dorothy and our puppy Wally. We love cooking together, going on hikes, traveling, and watching movies. As for my favorite things, I have a soft spot for espresso, ice cream, and playing and watching basketball, volleyball, and soccer.

Meet Wally

We adopted Wally, formerly named as Antonio Banderas, from an animal shelter when he was eight weeks old. He is the love of our lives. Wally loves going everywhere with his mom and dad, including to Kneeland Dental Care! He's even accompanied them on two cross-country road trips. Wally's favorite activities are: playing, hiking, shopping at Home Goods, lounging on any one of his four beds at home, and snacking on chicken, eggs, arugula, and kale. His best friend is a bright yellow plush platypus named Platypus - he's gone through 11 of them already :).

Meet Norma Castro, Receptionist & Dental Assistant

Trained at Pima Medical Institute, Norma has been working in the dental field since 2008. One thing she enjoys most about dentistry is experiencing how changing patients’ smiles transforms their lives. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Norma loves spending time with her two daughters, watching cozy movies, reading, and listening to music.
